This is a komabako (chess piece box) that was lying dormant at home.
It is a komabako made of Jindaikeiyaki (Japanese zelkova).
I had someone who makes shogi pieces look at it, and they gave it their seal of approval, saying it is of very high value.
It features Akita kumiko zaiku (a type of Japanese woodcraft).
The artist is Mr. Ohashi?
The precision is extremely high, and when closing the lid of the komabako, it slides shut smoothly.
