The search works according to the hot-cold principle. You walk in one direction and see if the signal gets stronger or weaker. The transmitter sends its location once a minute and the base station searches for this signal as soon as it is switched on and the search button is pressed. The search for the base station then also takes about another minute, even if the transmitter and base station are relatively close to each other (Attention! There must be at least Im to 1.50m distance between the transmitter and the base, otherwise the base will not indicate direction and distance). It doesn't take much time to get used to the system and then you will know how it works.
With the tiny Girafus tracking device, it is easy to locate the animal within a range of 500 m (in open terrain) - even in garages, basements or hidden under bushes.
