   These Japanese Ashinaga Basami Shears are high quality snips great for Bonsai, bud cutting, floral thinning, & other multi-purpose outdoor garden work. Made of high carbon steel, the cutting edges are very sharp & cut nicely. The handles are large for a good grip. Works excellent for thinning & defoliating Bonsai.   Made in Japan.

  
  

  About Carbon Steel

     High carbon steel is tougher & harder than stainless steels, making it ideal & desirable for applications where durability is required & where frequent regrinding is needed. Carbon steels are more durable & have razor-sharp edges, & is easy to re-sharpen as well when the need arises.

     Since carbon steel has superior cutting qualities due to it's hardness & toughness, it's resistance to corrosion caused by moisture is low as a result. Therefore, it is important to try and keep your carbon steel blades away from moist or damp environments as much as possible. It is also a good idea to occasionally wipe the blade with a light oil, such as mineral oil from time to time. It is also a good idea to wipe the blade dry after each use.
